So, I bought an ipad 2 accessories. Not for keeps; for two weeks. Apple doesn't stint on these loaners, though - this thing was well specced, a 64GB Wi-Fi and 3G model filled with an orange Smart Cover. Within the NZ Apple Store, this model would cost a fairly impressive $1289, plus $69 to the Smart Cover. I'm still a little bit conflicted about iPads. There seemed to be lots of talk available at least a year ago that Apple 'needed to', or should, produce a Netbook. Apple didn't seem interested in the least, decrying their little, uncomfortable keyboards and limited power. Then Apple released the iPad, with all the seeming distinction which it wasn't a netbook, but inhabited a 'new device category', which if you needed more power, Apple produced perfectly good laptops, thanks to you. Nevertheless, people carry on and buy ipad 2 covers to use as netbooks, and that's where I have a problem. They're really not netbooks. By trying and use an iPad as a netbook, you should have some success, but because it's not really a netbook, you will discover limitations. Sure, they are often overcome with workarounds, but seriously trying to write anything of length isn't great, although I'm certain some do. Unless you aim to make use of an ipad 2 smart cover for a netbook, you will possess a less complicated life and much more fun, for me.
